Friendly Phone Service

Twice a month VIB’s vision impaired volunteers pick up the phone to call blind and partially sighted people who perhaps live alone or in isolated areas.  This offers a social opportunity and the ability to speak to someone who being vision impaired may have similar experiences.  We can give advice and support to blind and partially sighted people and their relatives, often allaying a great deal of anxiety speeding up essential help.

We have good relationships with Social Services and voluntary organisations and can refer any queries on to the relevant contact if required.

Calls are made between 1:30 pm and 3:30 pm, on the first and third Wednesday of each month.  It is all very informal and friendly, but if there is a problem or crisis then we will try to put you in touch with someone who can help.

If you would be interested in receiving calls from us please see Our Services page to find out how.
